Lol, this reviewer should be fired immediately. He talks about the game repeating old mistakes, but the things he mentioned have all been critically acclaimed by other reviewers across the world.
He also feels that the games formula is predictable. Duhhhh, it's Zelda and the games formula has been one of the best in the gaming industry, so why mess with that. And to be honest, most games released today are predictable and mostly the same as their predecessors. I'm playing Skyrim now and the game is basically the same as Oblivion. And Gears of War 3 is the same as Gears 1 and 2. And haven't we seen the same Call of Duty game for 6 years now. But suddenly when it's a Zelda game it becomes an issue for the reviewer. What a hypocrite.
I can't judge the reviewer's isseus with the controls, but it sounds like he just hasn't got his setup right.
This review shows why nobody takes Gamespot's ratings seriously anymore. Good job Gamespot (sarcastic)

You have made it clear to us that Nintendo has a message on the screen to tap down to recenter in your review and here in the comments but the calibration error was not in the game but from the users perception that the infrared sensor was receiving the inputs. Of course you see the error now, but during your play through that was not the case. This one error is huge because it basically changed the feedback you received from the game, effecting you experience and ultimately your score which list controls as the main "bad" aspect of this game. You even went as far as saying, "Most troubling of all is how the aiming works". Now we know that if you aim at the screen believing the infrared sensor is detecting we will get the error you received. Fortunately, this discussion will help others avoid the same mistake. |
