New date announced for European and Australasian launch of PLAYSTATION 3
PlayStation.com isn't a website that likes to break sad news, soit's with great disappointment that we can confirm a delay to thepreviously announced November launch of PLAYSTATION�Themuch-anticipated system will now launch in Europe and the PALterritories of Russia, the Middle East, Africa and Australasia in March2007.
The system will launch in Japan and America this November, as originally planned.
We realise this will come as a huge disappointment to PlayStationfans in Australia and other PAL territories. PLAYSTATION�omprises manycutting-edge technologies; unfortunately, production issues with theblue laser diodes needed for the Blu-ray Disc drive at the heart of thesystem have forced us to push the European launch back.
With so many different territories and languages to support, the PALmarket is the most complicated region in which to launch the system,and is therefore the most pragmatic choice to bear the brunt of theshortage of components. Of course, this fact does not make the decisionany less difficult to make.
PLAYSTATION�ill launch in Europe next March, when a full range ofsoftware will kickstart the next generation in style. Keep visitingPlayStation.com.au for official updates on the system over the comingmonths.
