根据最新未证实的传闻消息,PS3 由于硬件设计上的失误,导致延迟发售。一位 Gamestop 的匿名雇员称,他的地区经理向他证实了消息。
PS3 将延迟到 2007 年发售,这个决定是因为PS3硬件设计组(Development Team) 设计的首批PS3开发工具出现了设计失误,大约300台送到开发商手上的PS3开发机由于冷却液不足,导致开发人员只是中度使用的情况下,已经出现系统过热并且死机。根据 Gamestop 地区经理的消息,索尼由于这个设计失误,已经解雇了整个PS3 硬件设计组。

If the above statements are true, could such a monumental setback be enough to postpone the PS3’s launch date by over a year? And if so, how would the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Revolution benefit from their newfound head start?

相比之下,微软目前已经向游戏开发商提供了两版的游戏开发工具。为了能够在Xbox360发售同期获得丰富游戏产品的支持,避免再度出现Xbox发售时作品寥寥的窘境,微软在游戏开发工具上下足了功夫。一份耕耘一分收获。从最近公布的Xbox360首发游戏名单以及今后的游戏产品线来看,微软的这份努力已经获得了回报。Microsoft甚至可以针对世界不同市场推出不同的首发游戏。
反观索尼PS3,其游戏开发工具直到今年第三季度才浮出水面。虽然Sony一直表示这款最新主机会在2006年发售,但即便是这样留给游戏开发商的时间也并不充裕。此外,从游戏开发成本以及投资风险角度来看,PS3游戏前期制作高达数十亿日元的准备金,并非任何一家厂商能够接受的。而基于XNA开发体系的Xbox360,不但投资保险系数大,而且游戏难度和开发周期也均优于PS3。
微软能否利用先发优势、索尼能否扭转目前形势,尚需时间检验。两强相争,获利最多的还是游戏玩家。当然,最终决定这场“次时代主机大战”孰胜孰负,也还是他们。 |
