X1修订版 Tegra 214.

[Updated] Reported by website Switchbrew and spotted by ResetEra user Atheerios, it appears that the new 5.0.0 firmware includes a System-on-a-chip (SoC) revision. This might imply that the current Switch units include a hardware vulnerability that would allow for exploits, including future Switch software versions.
New Nintendo Switch units will most likely be shipped with a different SoC.

Hey guys. So I think I should maybe explain this a bit. Added in the update was a title with the ID 0100000000000824. This has the name "Mariko" and contains information about the new SoC "T214". Now... what does that mean exactly?
Well, Mariko seems like a simple codename. However "Soc" is simply "System on a Chip" (or "Processor" as we know it (thanks for /u/Dogebolosantosi and /u/BirdKai for the helping others before I could comment)).
Now, "T214" is the most interesting one as it most likely stands for "Tegra 214." And currently, the Switch has a Tegra 210 on board. So this likely means they are upgrading the chip in the Switch.
Does this mean its time to get excited? Well... I wouldn't bet on that. This revision could be just to patch the bootrom exploit that was let out in the open and will just be a miniscule motherboard revision. So while it's something interesting, I think it'll just be something small.
Although, the fact it has its own unique codename is very strange. Although that could just be the name of the motherboard revision. So who knows. |
