The Xeon X3350 is basically the same thing as the Q9450, but with very minor differences.
The Xeon has these features that the Q9450 doesn\'t have:
Intel I/OAT (pretty much the benefits are only for a server use, since all that Intel talks about it are for servers and what benefits come to servers)
Demand Based Switching (basically re-marketed SpeedStep)
The X3350 has a different VID of 1.212V, while the Core 2 Quad Q9450\'s VID is 0.85V-1.3625V. This shouldn\'t be an issue if you\'re not overclocking.
The Yorkfield Xeon processors are basically re-named Core 2 Quad processors with the Intel I/OAT feature (the Demand Based Switching doesn\'t count here as an extra feature). I think they are both the same in performance (X3350 and Q9450), because they have the same FSB, same multiplier, same standard clock speed, same 45nm technology, and same L2 cache size.
If the X3350 is cheaper (which I don\'t understand why) then get the X3350. It\'s pretty obvious. |
