Where to begin? As a long fan of welcome to the nhk, having read the novel, manga and watched the anime I was incredibly excited for this book. Were we going to get a continuation? Perhaps some small stories of things that happened during Satou and Misakis melancholic story?
No. Instead we were given a 30 page product placement for post 2020. YouTube? PS5s? Google Street view? This is a sub par novel with no soul behind it. Tatsuhiko mentioned at the end how he didn't want to get the first novels feelings. Well he didn't. This was a boring, soulless novella and I would've rather used the wasted 7 dollars I spent here on a pack of cigarettes, which would've been better physically, mentally and spiritually for me than this let down.
