I personally like Ben-to because rather than play a ridiculous premise as a ridiculous premise, like say, Yakitake Japan did, Ben-to is playing it as surrealism.

The MC lives in a normal world, and freaky shit suddenly starts to happen around him, but only he notices. To everyone else the kidnapping lesbian and street fighting in the supermarkets are not only a matter of course, but not even worthy of note. And once he becomesawareof it, rather than play "the strait man," likemost showswould, he rolls with it, engrosses himself in it...and yet still remains far enough outside the madness for us to relate to him effectively.

Admittedly the surrealist elements aren't very strong in the writing, but the direction, art style, shot framing and music really help sell it. Compare the first episode of theanimeto the first chapter of Ben-to Zero and you see a really stark difference in the storytelling. The mangais far more traditional in all aspects, and the weaknesses and generic elements of the setting and story are magnified. The anime is so stylized that the ride alone helps hide those flaws.

I know comparing Ben-To to Fight Club has become the new Troll du jour recently, but I actually do seesome similarities, at least compared to the film version.

I'll be interested to see if the plot gets any DEEPER (if you'll forgive the term).

Ben-to is a ridiculous premise that knows it's ridiculous but is presented well.

Horizon, Guilty crown etc are equally ridiculouspremises' that take themselves seriously and without a hint of irony and are presented in a haphazard and cliche way.

话说便当第一卷的时候我就相当喜欢的原因就是.感觉那货就是搏击俱乐部啊~虽然后面后宫了

但是一群人那么认真那么热血那么执着的做一件蠢事.最后看上去居然是那么的单纯美好.

看完第三话主角吃了两次猎犬们的东西，第三次从背后翻脸那段就看不下去了。。。
虽说猎犬们的行为也不怎么样，但还是让人不舒服

不过翻脸这部分是动画没改好

便当本身的设定一点都不傻逼，因为它本身就是过度夸张的无厘头搞笑剧。

但这一话把男主角反水做得这么严肃这么正气凛然就太傻逼了。这还是动画表现得不好的问题，怪不得题材。
