"Learn more about Aki Hamaji sensei"
During the signing session, I was cosplaying as JOJO Part 8 Jojolion Josuke Higashikata. When it's my turn, Aki Hamaji sensei recognized the cosplay herself without me saying anything, and became noticable hyped. Her editor beside her was even excited (and louder). Then the next day, she acually remembered me (as the JOJO cosplayer). So I asked her which Jojo character is her favourite, and she said Bucciarati. She asked me which was my favourite (this was prob the only time she was the one asking question), I said President Valentine (from JOJO Part 7 Steel Ball Run). Before Hamaji sensei could complete her sentence, her editor went "OMG THE PRESIDENT FROM STEEL BALL RUN". Thats where I think Editor-san would be a really epic friend. The short signing sessions were quite fun, really glad to learn more about her, sensei and her editor are thankful for all the lovely supports from the fans from all around the world.
I believe many of us already saw this tweet by Aki Hamaji sensei, showing that she went to Malaysia for signing session. And I realized that there is very few infomation & trivia about her on the internet, maybe its because she never appear on public often and never had face reveal etc.
I was lucky enough to meet her twice at Malaysia. In the meet & greet/signing session, ofc no photography and video allowed, but there is some interactions between her and us the fans. So for those who were not there, heres what I gathered:
Aki Hamaji sensei:
- likes Udon
- favourite character (in BTR) is Ryo Yamada
- thinks Futari Gotoh is very spoiled
- favourite english movie is Titanic
- is a huge JOJO fan (even read all mangas)
- favourite JOJO character is Bruno Bucciarati from Part 5 Golden Wind
- is right handed
- is actually introverted
- knows very little English
- likes chocolates
- doesn't wear glasses
- voice sounded like a common typical Japanese woman
- believes that BTR became popular thanks to memes
- is smart at answering weird/controversial questions by fans
- doesn't turn to goo when social anxiety strikes in (ok I made this one up)
Another cool thing, her editor:
- a guy with glasses (quite good looking actually)
- cool vibe friendly
- defo extrovert
- genuinely tries to promote interactions between Hamaji sensei & the fans
- is an even bigger JOJO fan
There is more Q&A between fans and sensei, but I forgotten most of it 😪
If you were at the signing session and remembered/notice any fun-to-know about Aki Hamaji sensei, do share them XD
I just want to add that during her QnA:
[*]she like Assam Laksa as Malaysian food (she said is about the sour-sweet soup, but I believe because Laksa is somehow similar to Udon in terms of its noodles too)
[*]Her fav anime is Angel Beats (surprising but not so - since they have Girldemo in it too).
[*]Cagayake! GIRLS is her fav K-On! song.
[*]Fav manga is Fullmetal Alchemist (the reason she like AKFG is even because Rewrite is the theme for FMA 2003). One should watch her Gartic stream with her friends since she also did some jokes about a certain girl-dog in the series....
[*]Inspiration for her drawing style is coming from the shojo artist Toyama Ema - and I guess some of you know she started as a shojo artist at Ciao (old pen name was Hayami Chiaki).
